I've just learnt something from the lovely people at Green Mopeds in London.
My TC Max came with both a black and an orange battery lead. I've been plugging the black one in to connect it to the external plug.
However.

What my dealer should have done is remove this black lead and switch the XT plug under the seat to the empty socket.

Yes. It is true. As I know from my dealer, black plug is used only for maintanace to charge TCmax before delivering to client. I suppose it is to prevent starting vehicle by mistake while charging on stock or so.

So orange cable as you have is right one - it both allows you driving and charging from external socket. So you do not have to switch plugs for charging.

Advantage of your situation is - that you have one extra plug for future use - lake spare part for charger or option to use/match it with stronger charger if you decide/need. It is not easy to buy one. ;-] But it is true - you do not need black cable for everyday use.

And done! Surprising, looked like the leads attached to the black extra charging cable were more substantial so probably should be the right ones, presumably why this happened. Still, great to be able to charge without opening the bike up at all 🙂

This sounds great! How do I remove the seat so I can access this bit?

Great thank you! and thens it's just a case of switching the XT plugs and pulling out the black cables, correct?
