A few days ago i crashed at a roundabout in my home place... The road was a bit wet and took de roundabout with 30km/h and boom asphalt was hard! Didn't had that much some scratches and a twisted knee... Also my TC had some damage 🙁 i fell on my left side and the foot rest is bent, scraped 6mm off, steer is crooked, missing a cap from the steer handle and also the brake lever is scraped for 2mm. So i buyed new parts for it.

But didn't expect that hehehe i felt the back tire slipping and couldn't do anything at the roundabout.. I also filmed everything on my gopro (I record every trip on the soco with a cam on my helmet) and i don't see anything strange. I think it was oil on the asphalt but i'm not shure.

I ordered new CNC milled feet rests because the standard rests are made to bend easy... crappy molded aluminium...

I'm now waiting on the rest of the parts... want to go back on the road soon... maybe i need to drive slower on the roundabouts hahaha but man what was i in shock when it happened, some people helped my up and took a brake haha first a cigarette and then i drove home...

Back home and the pain from the fall raised and had a knee as a football hahaha 🙂

Have anyone troubles with tires or weight of the soco or?! This was also the first time in a month on the soco that i felt it sliding. So strange! At what speed should i take roundabouts in the future?!

It sounds a bit strange but i need a push to get back at the road hahahaha 🙂 i'm just struggling with why i fell down...

I heard some jokes from my colleagues... motorcyclists are split into two categories:

- who felt

- who will fall.

I had my left hand immobilized for ~4 weeks... not sure if was broken, but very painful. I felt also on left side. The road was straight, but slippery, with some ice which was melting and combined with mud and oil. One car from the right side / road, who had to give me way, came just a little too much into my lane. I tried to reduce the speed and broke, than felt incredibly easily.

I have two theories:

1. very bad quality of the tires... if you check this forum, you'll see many complain about the quality of the tires.

2. my second theory is more difficult to prove... but I'm afraid the weight center of this bike is too high. The position of the battery is probable not the best choice, it could be lowered. The bike was designed by Chinese people (sorry if some Chinese are around here) for short and slim/thin people. In Europe we are much taller and heavier, therefore combined with the higher position of the battery, it can happen what it happened to you.

And of course there are many things to learn / consider when driving only on 2 wheels and can of course cause a fall:

- oil on the road

- unburned diesel or petrol -> it can be thrown out through the exhaust pipe and it's not visible, it stays on road and make it very slippery.

- bullshits from animals

- the paint which delimiter the lanes -> if it's wet it becomes dangerous

Avoid all above as much as possible.

@alexaraducristian I think your theories are correct, but the moment of i couldn't identify any oil or something. The things i can do is changing the tires and buy me a motorcycle suit for protection. This is also what i'm going to do! Thanks for the clear explanation! Hoping that others also can learn from my situation! (Always when i get something from China it will break hahahaha)

Thanks Bro,

Christian

The foot pad you can repair by yourself. Just need the right screw drivers.

To remove the footrest from the bike -> you need 8mm allen screw-driver. Then the wedge can be also easily removed with a 6mm allen screw-driver, but it needs to be a bit longer to reach the nut.

Or you don't need to remove it at all, just use a key (we call it French key) to bend it back to its original position. I noticed the footrest which is aluminium is flexible and won't break. Anyway start easily to bend it and feel it, you don't need to hurry.

Rest of the scratches... just ignore them.

@alexaraducristian
that is a good idea and better knowing it is aluminium.

Should we need some heat on the parts while bending?

ouch, guess everyone gotta come off eventually, glad it wasn't more serious!

def worth considering a different tire for your roads and weather, even in dry conditions i find the tires do not give the amount of grip i want sometimes here in the UK - i just won't ride my soco when its raining, not an option for some people tho

@socomods I will change tires! And buy a motorcycle suit, boots. But i think there is no need to stay home if the road is wet. It was bad luck and understanding the lack of the tires it would be the thirst thing that i would change now!

Thanks,

Christian

Glad that things were not more serious.

I'm really alarmed by this type of accident.  You were driving sensibly and the road conditions seemed acceptable.  Not sure what you could have done differently.

@kurio99 Thanks! It was scary, and didn't know what i could do otherwise. Leaning to the right was a option but if i crashes at the right side it could be more scarier, the moment (also you can see in de video) i prepared myself to change my left hand en let it just go... Get new tires under the soco for shure!

Thanks,

Christian
