My front rim of my TC just broke after braking while going downhill at ~50 km/h. Last year the same happened during the Hungarian 24h 50ccm motorcycle competition in which Super Soco took part.
I include a pic of the broken spoke of the front wheel. Very dangerous!!!
(and no, I had no accident, the rim just broke because it did not withstand the deceleration force of the brake)
How long had the bike been running?
This is scary because I do drive a lot on bumpy roads. Hopefully it's still under warrenty even if bought it abroad.
Btw did you hear it snap or you just noticed it?
I did not notice it in the moment (the wind noise below the helmet is significant). There are 3 spots at the downhill street where I need to brake hard. But since then I have a noise at the wheel and I was thinking that it is just the noisy brake. However, the sound was somewhat different, more metallic so I searched yesterday because I thought the wheel might hit somewhere or is not adjusted well. And then I discovered the break. It goes through both of the thin spokes, so the wheel is there completely detached. It is one of the 4 spokes which hold the brake disc. It is really scary - I do not want to imagine what would have happened if the complete front wheel would have disintegrated while downhilling a 23% slope at a significant speed.
It looks to me as a design error of the aluminium rim. The space between the hollow spokes should have been filled with metal, too, in order to make them stronger. The spokes are simply not strong enough. The wheel is such a basic part of a motorcycle and I have to trust its function. Vmoto/Super Soco should call back the wheels, this is really significant.
